As the 15th National Games enters its 200-day countdown, the renovation of Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center, a core venue for the event, has achieved key milestones ahead of schedule. Parallel upgrades have been completed at Guangzhou Clay Pigeon Training Center and Guangzhou Disabled Persons Sports Center, marking a comprehensive transformation of competition facilities.

Tianhe Sports Center will become a vibrant hub connecting citizens' daily lives.
Originally built in 1984, Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center hosted multiple events, including the 6th National Games, 9th National Games, and Asian Games, cementing its status as a national sports icon. As China's first self-designed comprehensive sports center, it pioneered the integrated construction of stadiums, gymnasiums, and aquatic centers.

The outdoor activity space of Tianhe Sports Center has been further expanded.
Under the guidance of its original architect, Guo Mingzhuo, the renovation harmonizes historical preservation with modern elements. The restored south gate tower now features floor mosaics that incorporate elements of the Pearl River and the Greater Bay Area. Idle spaces have been converted into public fitness zones, while a new "pocket park" replaces perimeter walls with open greenery. Prioritizing sustainability, the project reused temporary structures and leased equipment while implementing barrier-free designs. Post-upgrade, the venue will host multiple events and stage the Paralympic Games opening ceremony.

The stands of the Guangzhou Clay Pigeon Training Center have been significantly expanded.

The new clay pigeon thrower is safer to use.
After an eight-month overhaul retaining original structures, Guangzhou Clay Pigeon Training Center, covering 60,000 square meters, now boasts an AR shooting interactive system, Olympic-grade voice-controlled clay pigeon throwers and an automated ammunition handling system. The upgrade emphasizes sustainability, utilizing natural lighting and ventilation while preserving 70% of the original structural components. Expanded seating (639 capacity) and AR experience rooms now enable greater public accessibility.

The Guangzhou Disabled Persons Sports Center will undertake diverse functions.
The Guangzhou Disabled Persons Sports Center has completed its 234-day renovation, encompassing four buildings spanning 26,682 square meters. The project upgraded barrier-free facilities, refurbished functional spaces, and installed specialized equipment. Having passed official inspections as the competition venue for goalball and floor curling, the center will continue serving as a para-sports training base while expanding its role to host cultural performances, rehabilitation interactions, and inclusive community activities, benefiting both athletic events and public engagement.
